
Chatel is in the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski region, which is the largest ski area in the world, covering 12 resorts across France and Switzerland.
Chatel has 83km of ski slopes, and together with the neighbouring resort of La Chapelle, they have turned into important ski holiday destinations for families and kids.
Situated at the end of the picturesque and rural Abondance valley they are easily accessible from Geneva and the motorway system, making them ideal for a self drive holiday. Chatel has a good selection of bars and restaurants, and is the perfect holiday for skiers of all levels, in particular families with kids.
Chatel's skiing is divided into two parts: Super Chatel, which offers the good skiing for beginners and links with the nearby resorts of Torgon, Morgins and Champoussin in Switzerland; and Linga which is a little way out of the village, but has a mixture of advanced and intermediate skiing.
Situated in Super Chatel, and directly linked by the gondola lift and the new ski-tow "Les Bossons", is a large snow park playground, which includes an array of snowboarding facilities for beginners and intermediate boarders.

Chatel ski resort has a variety of ski schools and child day care centres for all ages. Some of the ski schools are Ecole de Ski Francis Sports, International Snowboard School and Ski Surf École International.
