Tignes is one of the highest ski resorts in the Alps and has the Grande Motte glacier which guarantees skiing virtually all year round.
There are 5 different districts in Tignes - Tignes le Lavachet, Tignes le Lac, Val Claret, Les Brevieres and Les Boisses which provide over 300 Km of pistes catering to all abilities. Tignes has an assortment of decent restaurants as well as super markets for the self catering crowd.

Beginners aim for the Grand Motte glacier and the intermediaries go for more challenging blue and red runs on Les Brevieres. Expert skiers are drawn to the Tignes because of the challenging black pistes and off piste skiing. Mickey's ears, the fingers and the Lavachet are some of the spine tingling pistes for vertical drops.
The altitude ranges between 1550m and 3450m with around 97 lifts linking the various ski districts in Tignes.
Tignes ski resort offers a number of ski schools; some of them are The Development Centre - Tignes, ESF, Evolution 2 and the British Alpine Ski school. All of these ski schools offer good lessons for all levels at competitive rates.
Tignes is a good family resort and offers various essential services to cater to families with children which include child care facilities like crèches. Some of the best known crèches are ESF (ages 4 to 13), Les Marmottons (2 and half to 6), Les Minis Pouces and Tigenese Tots.
